About Becky

Becky Miller serves as Recruitment and Engagement Manager at 360X Staffing, where she handles full-desk recruiting, sourcing, talent acquisition, client interface, and operational support for construction professional placement with a specialty in renewables. She earned her degree in business management with a focus in human resources from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota. Miller began her career in agriculture before transitioning to HR at an EPC contractor, which led her into recruitment; she later moved to the agency side at 360X Staffing. In 2022, she received the Recruiter of the Year award. She also serves as a director on the board of Heritage Hill, a nonprofit embracing the history of agriculture, where she manages parades, royalty committees, and clothing orders. Miller credits her success to her boss BJ, her husband Travis Miller, and her parents, who instilled values of hard work, humility, and resilience. She advises young women entering the field to persist through challenges, listen to learn, and embrace a collaborative approach.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Becky

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to influential people in my life like my boss BJ who has taught me so much within the staffing industry, my husband who has taught me so much within renewables construction, and my parents who raised me to put my head down, work hard, don't give up, show your value and worth. It's okay to take a risk as long as you have yourself to fall back on and push yourself.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The most important words I've ever heard from a CEO of a large EPC was 'I don't care what decision you make, just make one and stand behind it.' It hit different for me because I worry about making the wrong decision, but making a decision, owning it, and standing behind it is not a bad thing even if it's a mistake. You learn more from your mistakes than you do your successes.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't give up. It takes all kinds to make the world go around and you will have people talk down to you. Have your moment, cry those tears if you have to, and pick yourself back up and say I'm gonna prove that person wrong. I also live by fake it till you make it - not being dishonest, but coming from a confident standpoint while learning through conversations. Listen to learn, listen to take it in and collaborate, don't listen to respond.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges are finding strong talent that isn't asking for an astronomical rate, that is being honest with us. It's a very competitive market especially in renewables, finding good people willing to travel or honest about remote work. When working with people it's always a major challenge, you never know what you're gonna get. The industry itself can be a huge obstacle but it's about navigating that and working closely with candidates and clients to find solutions together.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Be humble, be kind. Those are things I always remind my children of. In this industry it can become a very aggressive world, dog eat dog. At 360X we want to be humble, kind, uplifting, a support system. Be honest, be kind, be humble, be willing to listen. Don't listen to respond. Listen to really just take it in and work together, create that partnership, be collaborative.
