About Belinda
Belinda is a visual artist, educator, creator, and leader whose career combines creativity, education, business, and community engagement. Originally from a small town in North Carolina, she developed her passion for art at an early age and pursued formal studies at North Carolina A&T University and AIU in Georgia. She later earned graduate degrees in Management and Public Relations from the University of Maryland Global Campus and Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services from Liberty University. Her early professional experience in fashion and styling further strengthened her skills in art, business, branding, and communication.
Belinda has developed a diverse career in education, curriculum development, and leadership. She currently serves as an Art Teacher and Department Chair with District of Columbia Public Schools, where she leads faculty, develops innovative lessons and curriculum, integrates technology and other academic disciplines into art education, and supports the holistic development of students. She has also taught at Marymount University and held career and technical education roles with Fairfax County and Alexandria City Public Schools. Her professional expertise includes teaching, curriculum development, digital design, training, marketing, branding, recruitment, relationship building, and educational program development.
Beyond the classroom, Belinda is the owner of The BellaVision, where she combines her artistic and business talents through project management, marketing, public art, event planning, budgeting, and grant writing. Her community-oriented work includes organizing art experiences, exhibitions, and educational programs designed to encourage creativity, empathy, and connection. Belinda is particularly passionate about using art to help individuals and marginalized communities find their voice and experience healing. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to innovation, cultural sensitivity, consistency, and creating meaningful opportunities that positively impact students, artists, and the broader community.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I think maybe just consistency and a little bit of luck. Community and personal relationships goes a long way in that regard as well. So many people have remembered me from somewhere or knew someone else in my circle and that opened up other doors for me.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My first boss told me to always remember that sometimes more is just more. It's helped me to scale back, evaluate if I'm doing more because it's needed, stay true to my personal passion, and maintain work-life balance.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just being yourself is enough. I'm a girl from a small town in North Carolina and I've never not been that. It works well for me. You don't have to be anything else. You can just be you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I'm in a different phase building a broader global community through artist residencies which has opened huge opportunities but presents a challenge with time and commitment as a teacher. Many people don't have the freedom to travel and expand their horizons.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Community and a connection to my greater power. I believe in God. My family, my friends, everything, I have a very strong community, and then I also have a very strong faith.
