Belinda McGuire-Davis, M.Ed. Admin., is a celebrated fashion educator, designer, and community leader with over four decades of experience shaping the future of fashion education and entrepreneurship. As the founder and CEO of the LenGuire Institute of Fashion, a 501(c)(3) organization established in 1995, she has dedicated her career to equipping youth and young adults with the knowledge, skills, and industry connections necessary to succeed in the fashion world. Her professional background includes 32 years teaching in Newark Public Schools, the last 10 was fashion careers program for which she developed a comprehensive curriculum that has been adopted across multiple high schools, emphasizing the full spectrum of fashion industry opportunities beyond design and modeling to include business. Belinda continues to mentor educators and students, offering guidance, consulting, and real-world experience long after her formal retirement. An award-winning fashion designer and couturier, Belinda specializes in creating evening wear and wedding gowns, drawing inspiration from mentors such as Lois K. Alexander, Carol McMillan, and DeForest Blake Soaries. Her designs have been showcased at the National Black Fashion Museum and her innovative approach to fashion education integrates entrepreneurship, career readiness, and personal growth. Through the LenGuire Institute of Fashion, she empowers students to build sustainable income-generating businesses, develop professional networks, and gain exposure to real-world industry practices. Her work has been recognized by prestigious institutions including the National Association of Fashion and Accessory Designers (NAFAD), Rutgers University Entrepreneurship Pioneers Initiative (EPI), the Institute For Entrepreneurial Leadership (IFEL)and Newark Public Schools, and she is also the author of the memoir "Living My Life With Passion- The Journey", which chronicles her journey of resilience, creativity, and purposeful leadership. Belinda’s impact extends far beyond the classroom and studio. She has served in numerous leadership roles, including North Jersey and then Founder and Central Jersey President, and Eastern Region and National Reporter, Eastern Region and National Junior Director, and Eastern Region Director for NAFAD, and she remains an active community advocate through cultural programs, public speaking, and mentoring initiatives. She leads the Fox Meadows Steppers, a Chicago-style stepping dance group, and organizes events that combine arts, education, and leadership development. Guided by a lifelong commitment to education, empowerment, and community service, Belinda continues to expand her programs, build partnerships, and create meaningful opportunities for youth to excel in fashion and business. Her enduring mission is to cultivate the next generation of innovators, leaders, and entrepreneurs while inspiring individuals to recognize and realize their full potential.

My success is attributed to having great role models; being a self-starter and highly motivated individual; Having the ability to listen even when I did not want to.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't wait for anyone to give you what you want. Go out and get it. Never let a failure stop you, evaluate the situation and just start again. Don't be afraid to pivot.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Learn as much as you can about the business. Make as many connections as you can. Be passionate about what you are doing. Perfect your skills. Don't be afraid to change direction.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is uncovering the myriad of careers connected to the industry.
