Her Story

About Benedetta

I started my career as a mechanical engineer and project engineer, working with CAD and technical design. However, I felt like I was just an arm in the chain, and something about managing was missing in the role I was covering. I wanted to pivot to something where I could see the whole process, from the development or something that we wanted to implement, to the end. After completing a one-year master's program in technology management that ended in June 2025, I transitioned into the tech industry about 2-3 years ago. Originally from Europe, I moved to the U.S. almost 2 years ago, and I've also lived in Spain. Now I work in a product management team where I handle new implementations and new releases for our customers. I work cross-functionally with different teams to make sure our customers switch to the new softwares we're implementing smoothly. I review data and see how the market is, determining the best way to implement our new softwares and help our customers better. What was missing in my previous role was being in contact with customers and having the feedback and review. I wanted the full view of the situation. I really like the tech industry because it's very fast, and it's very easy to communicate with everybody. Everything is through email, everything's computer-based. I really like this vibe more than having to be in a factory or something and having to work as just a small piece in the company. Even though I'm still at a very early career, I can see my career path growing, and in this industry, it's way easier and way more interesting because you communicate with a lot of people all the time, from senior level to early career level, and it's very mixed. That gives a lot of people the possibility to grow and see a lot of things inside the companies and the industry that you work in.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think networking is very important, because the world that we live in and how things work right now is still pretty male-based, even if it's changing. It's not easy as a woman to get the same opportunities and the same respect as men definitely get very easily. So I think networking helps you get to know people and get known by them, and show how driven you are and how interested you are in the same field, and that you can do exactly the same thing. I work with a lot of people, and I could see the difference in how they would treat me, even though my knowledge and my efficiency was definitely better. You don't get the same treatment, but you just have to go through it and not get beaten by it, because at the end, it's not really important what they consider you, if you consider yourself at the same level. Networking helps because once you know these people, they can actually see your value. That's what happened to me. Through networking, it helped me a lot to get to know me and go farther. It's very important that you go for it and not stop anyway, or anyhow, basically. Networking is a very huge part of every business, every kind of situation and goal that you want to achieve.
