Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of dedication, curiosity, and the support of mentors and colleagues who have guided me along the way. My academic journey from earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University at Albany to completing a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a focus on medicinal chemistry at St. John’s University has taught me the value of perseverance and rigorous research. Along the way, I have had opportunities to present my work at conferences such as the American Chemical Society Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference and receive recognition for projects like the most commercializable project at the 2025 Student Research Conference. Internships and hands-on research, including developing new drug detection methods using DART-Mass Spectroscopy, have further honed my skills and reinforced my commitment to contributing to drug discovery. Above all, maintaining core values of respect and kindness has guided both my professional and personal growth.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from the mentors and colleagues who have supported me throughout my journey: always stay curious, be willing to learn from every experience, and seek out guidance from those who inspire you. Their encouragement has shaped my approach to setting goals, building expertise, and conducting meaningful research, reminding me that growth comes from both perseverance and collaboration.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to pursue your dreams without limitations. Throughout my own journey, I have faced setbacks and failures, but I learned that perseverance and consistent effort, even one step at a time, can lead to meaningful progress. I encourage you to embrace challenges, keep pushing forward, and allow yourself to dream bigger than you ever thought possible.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life center on community, service, and meaningful connections. I have a passion for giving back, which I express through my involvement with Beta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, where I actively participate in initiatives that support women and children in need. Currently, I am helping organize a toy drive for children and preparing for our upcoming fundraising event, "Finer Wine," in February, which will benefit women in need. Outside of service, I also enjoy dancing, which allows me to express creativity and maintain balance in my life.
