Q

What do you attribute your success to?

When reflecting on my success, I often think of the mantra, “Let go or get dragged.” This simple yet powerful principle has guided me in setting clear boundaries and moving forward, allowing me to overcome challenges that might have otherwise held me back.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is, “Let go or get dragged.” It reminded me that holding onto challenges or situations rarely serves us. As a social worker, it’s helped me set healthy boundaries—supporting and guiding clients while allowing them to make their own choices and take responsibility for their path.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To young women entering this field, I would say: it’s not easy, and there will be challenging days. While caring deeply for clients, it’s essential not to neglect yourself—compassion fatigue is real. Choosing to prioritize your own well-being isn’t selfish; it allows you to be fully present and effective in guiding others.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is the emotional toll on practitioners, particularly empathy and compassion fatigue. Supporting staff well-being and fostering sustainable supervision and self-care practices are essential to maintaining effectiveness and resilience in this work.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty is a core value for me, both in my work and personal life. Being truthful with clients—and with myself—allows for meaningful reflection and growth. I also prioritize grace, recognizing that we each move at our own pace, and intentionality, approaching every action with purpose. I encourage my clients to practice self-love and intentionality, and I strive to do the same in my own life.
