About Bernetta
Bernetta Sowels is an interior designer and production designer who has been in the design industry since 2016. She operates The Beehive Design Studio, where she offers both on-site and virtual interior design services, including customized plans, mood boards, layouts, and decor concepts tailored to her clients' needs. Her background also includes work in the film industry as a production designer and in wardrobe and set design, where she has contributed to independent productions and received recognition for best wardrobe in a film in Canada. Sowels holds an interior design degree from Texas Women's University. She attributes her creative approach to early influences from her grandmother, a seamstress, and her aunt, who demonstrated how to repurpose everyday items in innovative ways.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My success comes from watching my grandmother who was a seamstress and my auntie who showed me how to repurpose items like turning a chair into a shelf. I always walked into a room thinking what else could this be rather than just seeing it as is.
