About Bertha
Bertha Romain serves as Client Program Manager at Maersk, where she oversees the key Target account and supports ocean and supply chain operations. With a little over 15 years at the company, including a brief early departure to pursue law enforcement training with the Long Beach Police Department before returning, she has built expertise across customer service, where she started as a representative and managed the department for 7 years while also overseeing quality assurance and inventory control. Romain advanced into operations and IT integrations, handling end-to-end connectivities for accounts including Nestle Waters, Dell, and Lowe's, and implemented processes and SOPs that were adopted across other facilities. In her current role for nearly 4 years, she focuses on performance management, stakeholder communication across time zones, and strategic problem-solving to meet customer requirements. She is currently enrolled in USC's Master's in Science for Sustainability Management program and actively participates in the Power Women Network at Maersk while mentoring young professionals and planning to volunteer in efforts to eliminate sexual human trafficking after completing her degree.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be true to yourself and stick to who you are. Only you know your limitations and how much you can invest. Have confidence in yourself, especially when facing rejection or doubt in a male-dominated field. Prove yourself through your actions and experience rather than others' perceptions.
