Beth Horn, M.Ed.
Beth Horn, M.Ed., is an experienced educator and administrator who has dedicated over 18 years to serving the students and families of Carrier Mills–Stonefort Schools in southern Illinois. She began her career as a classroom teacher, spending nearly 17 years in the high school setting before transitioning into administration. Through the Illinois Principal Pipeline Grant, Beth earned her Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from McKendree University, building on her earlier M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign. In 2024, she stepped into the role of Assistant Principal at Carrier Mills–Stonefort Grade School, where she now contributes to shaping a positive and supportive learning environment for Pre-K through 8th grade students.
Beth’s approach to leadership is rooted in authenticity, strong communication, and the meaningful relationships she builds within her school community. She attributes her success to these connections and to the guidance of mentors who encouraged her to lean into her natural strengths rather than try to change who she is as a leader. This perspective has greatly influenced her administrative style, allowing her to support teachers, students, and families with empathy, clarity, and confidence. Her work is grounded in the belief that relationships form the foundation of effective leadership, especially in close-knit educational communities.
Outside of her administrative responsibilities, Beth finds fulfillment in nature, charitable involvement, and supporting causes close to her family. She enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly hiking in the Shawnee National Forest, and is actively engaged in cancer-related advocacy with organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society—an effort inspired by her husband’s experience with leukemia. Through both her professional and personal commitments, Beth continues to make a meaningful impact on her school community and beyond.
