Ten minutes with Beth

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success first and foremost to my Lord and Savior. When I look back on my life, I can see His hand guiding me every step of the way - even during the seasons when I couldn't understand His plan. My parents instilled in me the values of faith, integrity, hard work, compassion, and service, and those lessons became the foundation of both my life and my career. As the daughter of a military family and later a military spouse, I learned early the grit, resilience, adaptability, and perseverance that come with embracing change, facing uncertainty, and finding strength in every new beginning.

For more than twenty years, I had the privilege of owning Premier Dance Studio and working as a professional choreographer. Dance taught me that excellence is never accidental- it is earned through discipline, sacrifice, consistency, and an unwavering commitment to the fundamentals. I had the honor of training aspiring dancers, many of whom pursued professional careers, and there is no greater reward than watching someone achieve a dream they worked tirelessly to accomplish. Those experiences shaped my leadership philosophy and reinforced my belief that success is built by investing in people, challenging them to grow, and helping them discover potential they may not yet see in themselves.

I've learned that God rarely wastes a season. Every challenge became a lesson, every closed door redirected me, and every opportunity prepared me for the next chapter. Being a single mother raising two sons further strengthened my resilience, deepened my faith, and reinforced the importance of leading with compassion and never giving up. Today, as a proud grandmother of two, I realize that every experience—the joys, the setbacks, the unexpected detours, and the lessons along the way- has shaped me into the leader I am today. It has been an incredible journey, and I truly believe every step has led me exactly where God intended me to be.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received didn't come from a boardroom - it came from the dance studio.

As a dancer and professional choreographer, I learned that everything begins with a strong foundation. Before you can master technique, perform with confidence, or achieve excellence, you have to build your base. Every movement depends on balance, discipline, and the fundamentals. If your foundation is strong, everything else has something solid to stand on. I've carried that lesson with me throughout my career. Whether in education, human resources, talent acquisition, or leadership, I've learned that success is built on the same principles: faith, integrity, hard work, humility, and a commitment to continuous learning. Technology will evolve, industries will change, and opportunities will come and go, but your values are the foundation that sustain you. I've also learned to trust God's timing. Some of the most meaningful opportunities in my career were never part of my original plan, but each one prepared me for the next chapter. Looking back, I can see that every challenge strengthened my foundation, every closed door redirected my path, and every experience helped shape the leader I am today.

Just as in dance, when your foundation is strong, everything else follows.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never underestimate the value of relationships. Skills can be learned, technology will continue to evolve, and industries will change, but your integrity, your work ethic, and the way you treat people will always define your success.

One of the most meaningful lessons in my career came while working with the Military Child Education Coalition. I was entrusted with helping to rebuild the relationship between local military installations and a school division that was perceived as not being military-friendly. By listening first, building trust, and bringing people together around a shared purpose, we strengthened those partnerships and helped pave the way for the division to earn its first Purple Star designation. That experience reinforced something I have carried throughout my career: meaningful change begins with relationships.

Don't be afraid to take on opportunities that feel bigger than you. Some of the greatest growth in my career came from stepping outside my comfort zone and trusting that I could learn along the way. Embrace innovation, including artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, but never lose sight of the human connection. Technology should enhance relationships, not replace them.

Most importantly, stay true to your values. Lead with humility, serve others well, continue learning, and never let anyone convince you that your voice, your ideas, or your purpose don't matter. Success isn't measured by the position you hold—it's measured by the trust you earn, the lives you influence, and the legacy you leave behind.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in talent acquisition today is using technology to create a more intentional and personalized candidate experience. Artificial intelligence is transforming how we source talent, analyze data, automate routine tasks, and identify trends, allowing recruiters to spend more time building meaningful relationships. However, AI should never replace the human element, it should strengthen it.

One of the greatest challenges is that many organizations rely on systems and processes that were designed to track applicants rather than build relationships. Early in my role, I realized the tools available weren't giving us the visibility or flexibility we needed to effectively recruit, engage, and develop talent. Instead of accepting the limitations, I designed a customized recruiting CRM and workflow that aligned with our goals, allowing us to better manage candidate relationships, improve communication, measure results, and make more informed hiring decisions. It reinforced my belief that technology should serve people, not the other way around.

The future of talent acquisition isn't simply about filling positions. It's about combining innovation with authenticity, hiring for both skill and character, and creating workplace cultures where people feel valued, supported, and inspired to grow. Organizations that embrace both technology and human connection will be the ones that attract and retain the very best talent.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my professional and personal life are faith, integrity, trust, servant leadership, and loyalty. I believe trust is the foundation of every successful relationship, whether you're leading a team, recruiting talent, or simply supporting someone through a difficult season. It begins with listening, communicating honestly, and treating people with respect. Throughout my career, my goal has always been to leave every person, team, and organization better than I found it. I believe leadership is about serving others, helping people grow, and creating environments where they feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. If we invest in people first, success naturally follows.
