Her Story

About Bethanne

Bethanne Yeaton serves as a Case Manager, Access to Care, with MaineHealth, where she focuses on helping individuals overcome non-clinical barriers to healthcare. Based in Freedom, New Hampshire, she assists patients and families across Maine and New Hampshire with navigating health insurance options, including Marketplace coverage, Medicaid programs, and other resources. Her work also involves connecting individuals with financial assistance, medication support, transportation, and community resources, helping ensure that patients can access the care and services they need.

Yeaton brings six years of healthcare and recovery-related experience to her career. Before joining MaineHealth in November 2024, she served as a Recovery Center Manager with White Horse Recovery in North Conway, where she supported individuals pursuing pathways to recovery and helped connect them with community resources. She has also worked in peer recovery support and administrative roles and holds an associate degree in Addiction Counseling. She is continuing her professional development toward licensure in alcohol and drug counseling, with a particular interest in supporting youth and adolescents. Beyond her professional work, Yeaton is a mother of five and an author, balancing her commitment to helping others with her dedication to family and personal growth.

Yeaton attributes her success to resilience, independence, and the steadfast support of her partner, whom she describes as her best friend and husband. Honesty, compassion, straightforward communication, and kindness are central to both her professional and personal life, particularly her belief that everyone may be facing struggles that others cannot see. Her experience serving rural communities has also given her a strong understanding of barriers such as limited transportation, and she has helped identify resources and grant-supported transportation solutions for those in need. Yeaton encourages others to trust their instincts while using sound judgment to find practical solutions, not to let traditional qualifications prevent them from pursuing meaningful work, and to recognize the value of life experience. Above all, she believes in the importance of self-confidence, perseverance, and having the courage to believe in one’s ability to make a difference.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Bethanne

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience, independence, and the strength I developed from having to stand on my own two feet for a long time. I have also been incredibly fortunate to have the steadfast support of my partner, who has stood behind every decision I have made and encouraged me throughout my journey. I truly married my best friend, and having that unwavering support has given me the confidence and foundation to continue growing personally and professionally.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I believe the best career advice I have received is to follow my gut while also trusting my brain. When my instincts tell me something may not be right, but my mind sees a way to make it work, I try to find a healthy compromise between the two. Balancing intuition with thoughtful reasoning has helped me make decisions with both confidence and perspective.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering my industry not to let pre-qualification requirements intimidate them or prevent them from pursuing opportunities. Life experience is increasingly being recognized as a valuable qualification, and the skills gained through personal experiences can be just as meaningful as formal credentials. Most importantly, believe in yourself and your abilities. You can have all the qualifications on paper, but without confidence in yourself, it can be difficult to succeed and advance. Confidence, combined with experience and a willingness to learn, can make all the difference.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is serving a rural community where transportation can be a significant barrier to accessing healthcare and other essential services. Public transportation is extremely limited, which can make it difficult for individuals to get to medical appointments, obtain medications, or access the resources they need. We have been able to secure grants that help provide transportation through services such as Uber, as well as partnerships with community organizations offering non-medical transportation. While these resources have made a meaningful difference, transportation remains an ongoing challenge, and finding creative, sustainable solutions continues to be an important part of my work.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are honesty, straightforwardness, compassion, and kindness. I believe in being honest and direct with people while always communicating with compassion and understanding. Everyone is fighting a battle that we may know nothing about, so I try to treat others with patience, empathy, and kindness, regardless of what they may be going through.
