What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being a risk-taker and trusting myself enough to walk away from roles that no longer aligned with my values. I don’t overanalyze decisions—I act when I feel something is no longer right for me and move toward something better. That willingness to pivot and bet on myself has shaped my entire career.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received was: “Go home—the work will be there tomorrow.” It reminded me that I cannot single-handedly keep an organization running and that burnout is not a requirement for success. It helped me understand the importance of boundaries, balance, and sustainable performance.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women to make accounting and finance their own. This field is not just about numbers—it is about relationships, communication, and impact. Focus on gaining diverse experiences, aligning your work with your values, and taking risks early in your career. You don’t have to follow a rigid path; you can build one that fits you.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges is the rise of AI and how it may reshape accounting and finance roles, along with the ongoing complexity of running and scaling a small business. At the same time, there is a significant opportunity in the nonprofit sector, where many organizations—especially those led by underrepresented communities—lack access to strong financial leadership and tools. I see a major opportunity to close that gap.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Authenticity is my most important value. I believe in showing up as myself in every space, both professionally and personally. I also value strong boundaries and work-life balance, ensuring that I can sustain my energy and effectiveness while staying true to who I am.
