Her Interview

Ten minutes with Beverly

01What do you attribute your success to?

My experience, the things that I went through in life, and educating myself. By educating yourself in the things that you go through, life is experience, it's wisdom. What makes you wise and know how to deal with different situations and understandable to other people.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

A professor at a particular university said my writing is excellent and that he could see me doing bigger and better things in my career, like doing HR and reaching out to other people. He was trying to tell me that I can be bigger than what I am now and that I can succeed in whatever I mentally put in my mind to do.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay focused and stick to your goals. If you do a curveball with your goals, your goal's gonna be a curveball, and you won't be able to accomplish them. Make a straight shot, and focus on what you believe in, and what your values are, and what your goals are, and that way, you will see your results at the end.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges include AI taking over some aspects but HR still needs human touch. Harder to get full-time work, system clogged with Indeed and LinkedIn due to many AI-generated applications. Opportunity to self-teach AI to create anything imaginable.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Loyalty, compassion, empathy, creativity, achievement, honesty, dependability, integrity, being sympathetic, understanding, and being someone who can help others and is coachable. In HR, understanding when someone has a death in the family and needs days off shows compassion and empathy.
