Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my strong attention to detail and pattern recognition, which have been consistent strengths throughout my career across accounting, finance, and film production. I have developed the ability to step into complex, high-pressure situations and bring clarity and structure where there is chaos. Equally important has been my commitment to personal and interpersonal growth—learning how to adapt, remain composed, and continuously evolve both professionally and personally.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received comes from several incredible women who shaped my journey. My mother, an accounting controller, instilled in me financial discipline and attention to detail from a young age, which has been foundational to my career. Amy Smoliff, a production accountant and controller, introduced me to the industry, providing guidance and opportunities that allowed me to grow my skills. Stacy Matobo, whom I worked for on projects like Barbie and Thor, taught me professionalism and organizational excellence that I strive to emulate. Lastly, my producer Jackie R has shown me how to lead with respect and composure in high-pressure environments. Each of these women has profoundly influenced my growth, and I am deeply grateful for their mentorship and example.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women to invest deeply in their personal and interpersonal development. Work on yourself—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—because that foundation will influence every aspect of your career. It’s important not to take things personally, especially in high-pressure environments like film production, where people are often navigating their own challenges. Focus on building strong interpersonal skills, as those are just as critical—if not more so—than technical abilities. The practical skills can always be learned, but your ability to communicate, collaborate, and stay grounded will define your long-term success.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is navigating the fast-paced, high-pressure nature of film production, where workflows and accounting practices can vary widely across projects. Ensuring compliance, consistency, and clarity in these environments requires adaptability and strong leadership. At the same time, there is significant opportunity within independent filmmaking, which allows for a more entrepreneurial approach. It provides the chance to take on expanded roles, including producing and overseeing the entire financial lifecycle of a project, from development through distribution.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value respect, accountability, and a solution-oriented mindset in both my professional and personal life. I take pride in maintaining composure under pressure and approaching challenges with clarity and structure. Continuous personal growth is also a core value for me—I believe in evolving mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to become a better leader and collaborator. Building trust-based relationships and fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability are fundamental to how I work and live.
