Her Story
About Beverly
Beverly Winders is a retired elementary school principal with a long career in public education, ranging from kindergarten instruction to assisting teachers in earning their master's degrees. As a baby boomer herself, she recognized the unique challenges and opportunities of retirement in today's world, including longer lifespans and the need for continued engagement. After retiring, she pursued writing courses through AWAI and earned a certification in writing for older adults. She spent three and a half years developing a comprehensive curriculum and course with eight topics designed to help aging individuals navigate retirement. The program covers mindset shifts, dispelling myths about aging, physical activity, mental alertness, nutrition for longevity, social connections, and discovering greater purpose through volunteering or new pursuits. Her approach emphasizes interactive workshops, coaching, and practical guidance tailored to the needs of older learners, drawing from her extensive experience as an educator.
