Her Interview

Ten minutes with Bharathi

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the strong values instilled by my parents, the guidance and mentorship I have received from exceptional leaders throughout my career, and my commitment to continuous learning and personal growth. Their influence has shaped not only the way I work, but also the kind of leader I strive to be.

I believe meaningful success comes from creating lasting value through curiosity, continuous learning, and a willingness to look beyond the immediate problem. Rather than focusing solely on solving individual challenges, I strive to understand the broader system, develop sustainable solutions, and enable others to succeed. I see myself not just as a problem solver, but as a solution provider—someone who aims to create lasting impact for the organizations, teams, and communities I have the privilege to support.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to stay curious, discover what genuinely interests me, and never underestimate the value of good mentors. Early in my career, one of my mentors encouraged me to explore the field of data. That guidance helped me discover a passion that shaped the direction of my career. Since then, I have learned that while skills and technologies continue to evolve, curiosity, continuous learning, and mentorship remain timeless. They have helped me navigate change, grow as a leader, and, in turn, support the growth of others.

That experience also inspired me to become a mentor myself, because I have seen firsthand how one person's guidance can change the course of another person's career.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the technology and data industry is to believe in yourself and never underestimate your ability to lead. Take the time to truly understand the problem before rushing toward a solution, stay curious, and embrace every opportunity to learn. Seek out mentors who will challenge and support your growth, and don't be afraid to ask questions along the way. Most importantly, don't feel the need to fit a predefined mold of leadership. Your unique perspective, combined with preparation, resilience, and a genuine desire to create value, is what will set you apart.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges—and at the same time one of the greatest opportunities—in the data and technology industry today is the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence. AI has tremendous potential to transform how organizations operate, but too often the excitement around new technology outpaces a clear understanding of the problem it is meant to solve.

I believe the greatest opportunity is not simply adopting AI, but adopting it thoughtfully. That starts with strong data foundations, good systems design, and a clear understanding of business objectives. When organizations take that approach, AI becomes more than a technology initiative—it becomes a meaningful driver of sustainable value, better decision-making, and long-term organizational impact.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me, both personally and professionally, are integrity, curiosity, continuous learning, and creating value for others. They shape how I make decisions, build relationships, and approach leadership.

I believe meaningful leadership begins with understanding before acting—taking the time to understand the root causes of challenges rather than simply addressing the symptoms. That perspective has influenced how I lead teams, mentor others, and contribute to lasting improvements. Whether in my professional work or personal life, I strive to leave people, organizations, and communities stronger than I found them.
