Her Story

About Bhumika

I am an HR professional with over 15 years of experience in the field. I started my career as an HR business partner with Roval Corporation, an $8 billion organization, where I rose to become the talent acquisition leader for the complete Asia Pacific region spanning 18 countries, a journey of approximately 12 years. After that, I joined a startup as Director of HR, where I scaled the organization from $5 million to $15 million in annual revenue by focusing on key business pillars and strengthening them. The organization was in professional services, working with various ERPs like SAP implementation and integration. Given the success of our work with clients, they empaneled us for supporting their talent acquisition globally. That piece of business scaled from close to $5 million to $10 million, which gave me the confidence that I could actually build what I had been dreaming of for such a long time. I then started my own organization, HR and Boers LLC. When I studied AI, I got a very strong sense that this is the best way to solve a basic human day-to-day problem that is really close to my heart. We have been building an AI-native platform for parenting and childcare for 2 plus years, and we are now ready with the product to go to market and are in the process of seeking seed funding. My day starts with a sprint meeting with the team, setting the tone for the day. I then get into my zone of high-priority items where we are pitching to investors, presenting, following up, and negotiating deals. The second half goes back into business development with the team, product review, and product status and progress, and we do a lot of Kaizen in between.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Everybody says about follow your passion, and I think that's the most difficult thing to do in this world where the majority of external factors are beyond your control. But what I realized over a period of time is that if you really know what your passion is and there's a passion to pursue the passion, you will always make out of it whatever you want and you aim for, because the moment you have that clarity, you are able to focus your energy so strongly that it is bound to yield results. But in a scenario with so much of distractions, if one is able to do that, then there's no looking back. I wouldn't say somebody gave me an advice, but something that I was working with, I experienced this over a period of time.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be clear in terms of what you want. The moment that degree of clarity is there, you know what is to be done. But what's important is try not to be carried away by the distractions. I'm seeing this all across when I'm talking to people - everybody wants to do everything today. We just want to be in the rat race. But it makes a lot of sense to just pause, look inwards, and see what you have been wanting to do all this while. Specifically, always be in the presence of the fact that we are all just a small part of the universe, but even as a small part of this universe, the energy that we have been blessed with is insurmountable. There's a saying that if you really want something, the complete universe conspires to make it work. That's actually true because I have seen that happening. I have been working with a lot of new moms, bringing moms back to work, making them effective and successful, and that's been very enlightening for me as well. That's what I would tell specifically the ladies.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think keeping your commitments is one of the things which is clearly one of the most important values which I practice, and I make sure my team and even my family does it.
