I've been in the IT field for 20 years, and I've been in my current position for about 7 years. I earned my engineering degree in computer science and information technology back in India, and after getting married and moving to the U.S., I started freelancing. My first project was creating a website for a local insurance broker. I then landed a junior software engineer position at a small company in Mesa, where I was primarily focused on development as a C#.NET developer. I worked my way up, transitioning to other programming languages and eventually supporting core services for American Express through various vendors, primarily on their consumer travel side. I then ventured into cloud and DevOps with another small company before joining Deloitte, where I've been doing DevOps for most of the federal projects. Currently, I'm leading the AWS team for a federal project. My day-to-day responsibilities include planning the roadmap we plan to deliver, identifying what needs to be done each week since we run on one-week sprints, ensuring all the developers have the right stories and tasks without any blockers, identifying risks and raising them up to get them resolved, and planning the roadmap for all the tasks for the developers I'm leading. It was challenging when I first joined this project, but now I have a good feel for it.
