What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to staying open‑minded, adaptable, and willing to evolve. Moving frequently with my husband during his Coast Guard career taught me how to embrace change instead of resisting it. Every relocation pushed me to reinvent myself, learn new skills, and step into opportunities I might not have pursued otherwise. I’ve built my career by starting before I felt ready, saying yes to things that intimidated me, and taking chances that stretched me far beyond my comfort zone. Growth has always come from betting on myself, even when the outcome was uncertain. At the end of the day, I’d rather fail a hundred times than look back wishing I had tried.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to always communicate my expectations and needs. My first mentors at Target taught me early on that strong communication and self‑awareness are non‑negotiable—understanding my strengths, recognizing where I need to grow, and using the right tools to manage both. Over time, I’ve learned that growth doesn’t happen by accident. You have to take proactive ownership of your development, stay curious, and keep learning even when it feels uncomfortable.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to step outside your comfort zone, put yourself out there, and focus on building genuine relationships. Make the phone calls, practice cold outreach, and approach recruiting as an opportunity to connect and cultivate meaningful professional relationships—success will follow.
But beyond the mechanics, give yourself permission to take up space. This industry rewards women who advocate for themselves, trust their instincts, and aren’t afraid to speak with authority. Learn the business, understand your clients’ needs better than they do, and stay curious. Your willingness to keep learning will set you apart.
Recruiting is a field where resilience matters. You’ll hear “no” more times than you can count, but every “no” sharpens your skills and strengthens your confidence. Build a network of women who support you, celebrate your wins, and remind you of your value on the hard days. And most importantly, take chances even when you don’t feel ready. Growth comes from stretching yourself, not staying safe.
When you lead with authenticity, courage, and connection, you won’t just succeed—you’ll thrive.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is building trust with clients, especially overcoming the misconception that staffing agencies prioritize volume over quality. It takes consistency, transparency, and real partnership to show clients that we’re not just filling seats; we’re investing in long‑term success. The opportunity, though, is huge. When you truly understand a client’s needs and match them with the right candidate—the “unicorn” placement—it becomes a powerful reminder of the value a great recruiter brings. Those moments reinforce that staffing isn’t transactional; it’s strategic, relationship‑driven, and capable of transforming teams.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me—both in my work and in my personal life—are maintaining a healthy work–life balance and fostering a positive, supportive workplace culture. I’m intentional about showing up fully during business hours, giving my clients and candidates the best version of me, while also protecting time for my family. Being a strong role model for my daughter is a priority, and I want her to see that it’s possible to build a meaningful career without sacrificing the moments that matter at home. Creating that balance isn’t just a value, it’s the standard I hold myself to every day.
