I am a dedicated public service professional with more than 25 years of experience supporting executive leadership, improving organizational operations, and building collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. Throughout my career with the Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo, I have progressed from frontline court operations to executive leadership roles, gaining a deep understanding of the judicial system and the people it serves. I am passionate about creating efficient processes, solving complex challenges, and helping organizations achieve their goals through thoughtful leadership, clear communication, and strategic collaboration. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to perseverance, continuous learning, and a commitment to building strong relationships. I've never been afraid to step outside my comfort zone, take on new challenges, or embrace change. By leading with integrity, staying focused on solutions, and supporting the success of others, I've been able to grow professionally while making a meaningful impact on the organizations and communities I serve.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to never stop learning. Every role, challenge, and interaction offers an opportunity to grow. Embracing that mindset has helped me adapt to change, take on new responsibilities, and continue evolving as a leader throughout my career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Believe in your abilities, be willing to learn, and don’t underestimate the value of your voice. Seek opportunities that challenge you, ask questions, and build relationships with people who can support your growth. Focus on developing both technical knowledge and strong interpersonal skills, as collaboration, communication, and professionalism are essential in any field. Most importantly, be patient with your career journey. Success rarely happens overnight; it is built through consistency, resilience, and a commitment to continuous learning. Stay true to your values, and don’t be afraid to pursue leadership opportunities when they arise.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The judicial branch is facing the challenge of meeting growing public expectations while managing limited resources and an evolving workforce. At the same time, there is tremendous opportunity to leverage technology, improve processes, and strengthen community engagement to make court services more accessible, efficient, and responsive. The key is balancing innovation with the core principles of fairness, integrity, and public trust.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me are integrity, kindness, and service. I believe in treating people with respect, being someone others can trust, and always doing my best to help where I can. Throughout my career and personal life, I’ve learned that strong relationships are built through honesty, compassion, and a genuine willingness to listen and support others. I also value gratitude, continuous learning, and finding purpose in the work I do. At the end of the day, I want to be remembered not only for what I accomplished, but for how I treated people along the way.
