About Bisharah

My career in leadership spans 15 years across multiple industries, but my entrepreneurial journey began much earlier. As a young business owner running a snow business with my mother, I was nominated for the Girls Going Places Scholarship and selected as one of 15 girls out of 1,600 nationwide to travel to New York and meet with female entrepreneurs. This experience led to being featured on the cover of Black Enterprise for Teens magazine, which ignited my passion for leadership and business. My mother, a therapist and social worker, constantly poured into me, teaching me about professionalism, strategic relationships, and how to be a reflection of my brand. I started my corporate career at Enterprise in their Management Trainee program, became an assistant manager, and was then promoted to their corporate office as a business rental account manager, where building relationships became my specialty. Throughout my career, I've always been promoted in every role and have been passionate about pouring into young women, especially those from neighborhoods without adequate resources. At Strategic Financial Solutions, I worked in a call center environment where I saw young women with potential who just needed guidance and a chance. I created programs for professional development and mock interviews, choosing to invest in people others might overlook. This experience revealed my true purpose and led me to found Align Her Incorporated, an organization dedicated to helping young women navigate professional spaces, build strategic relationships, and develop their personal brands. I'm currently still working in corporate while building my business, having recently acquired a new team that I'm restructuring and empowering through my 'front line first' approach, where I give team members opportunities to present to their peers to build confidence and leadership skills.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My mother, who just passed in October, used to always tell me something that has stayed with me throughout my career. She would say to make sure whatever you do, you do something you would do for free, but because you do it so well, they pay you. When she first told me this, I didn't understand it. I would think, what am I going to do that I love enough that I'll do it for free? But now I get it completely. I literally love pouring into other people, and because I do such a good job at it, people want to pay me for this work. It's come full circle, especially now as I'm building my business in honor of her legacy.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never give up, and always speak up. So many of us have the ideas, we have the knowledge, but even when you're uncomfortable, the main thing is to speak up. Advocate for yourself. Always speak up. I think that is huge for women in these professional spaces.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think the biggest opportunity right now is that people see a need for young women in leadership, but unfortunately, there's a lack of equality in actually making it happen. It's almost like the patriarchy - people agree that we need women in leadership, but there's not much emphasis to really push for it. There's not enough investment in putting money towards it or creating grants for these initiatives. It's not as mainstream as it should be. People acknowledge it's needed, but we're not putting the resources and funding behind it. As they say, behind every great man is a woman, so let's actually put the money to support it. That's the biggest opportunity - turning acknowledgment into real action and investment.
