Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to discipline, perseverance, and faith. While mathematics taught me logic, life has taught me the importance of balance. My achievements have always stemmed from staying grounded in my values, working diligently, and keeping the “why” behind my work at the forefront. I have a deep passion for helping students unlock their potential, particularly in mathematics, which I believe fosters discipline, logical thinking, and confidence. Over the years, I have developed a math curriculum in Puerto Rico that has been successfully implemented for more than 14 years and continues to be recognized for its excellence. I also created MadCloud, an innovative educational platform that empowered teachers to customize their classrooms digitally, ahead of its time. Equally meaningful was leading a community initiative to ensure students at a local school had access to nutritious meals. Throughout my career, I have served as a program director, principal, and curriculum leader, overseeing district-wide initiatives that elevated teaching standards and student engagement. These experiences have reinforced my belief that leadership in education is ultimately about service, building systems, tools, and environments where both teachers and students can thrive.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering education is to embrace courage and confidence. Don’t be afraid to make difficult decisions or take up space at the table. Leadership requires both courage and compassion, especially in a field where every choice affects the lives of students. Equally important is a commitment to continuous learning. The best leaders remain lifelong students, always growing and evolving alongside those they serve.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in education today is balancing innovation with bureaucracy. The field often resists change, and introducing new systems requires patience, persistence, and careful planning. Transitioning to a new country and professional environment has also been challenging, but it has strengthened my adaptability, broadened my perspective, and reinforced my ability to lead effectively in diverse settings.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family, growth, and service are the values that guide me in both my work and personal life. Relocating to Florida was a family decision to support my son’s competitive swimming career and his dream of becoming an Olympian. This new season of life has required balancing motherhood with leadership, but it has also provided an opportunity to reflect, renew, and pursue my educational leadership certification in Florida, which I have recently completed.
