Her Story

About Bobbi

Bobbi Rice owns Rice Creative, her marketing company, which she has operated for three years, and manages three food trucks that she and her family launched in Austin, Texas approximately 15 years ago after her mother suggested reliving their parents' earlier experience with a shish kebab cart in New York City. With a total of 15 years in the field, Bobbi previously worked in the service and restaurant industries before building her expertise in marketing food trucks and creating online ecosystems for businesses through trial and error and dedicated study on YouTube. She attributes her success to her creativity and love of art, creating, and building, which she honed while developing her food truck operations and online presence. Bobbi also founded the nonprofit Austin Dog Food to provide nutrient-dense meals for senior dogs and those with health problems, matching purchases with donations to feed dogs in need. She values doing difficult things and overcoming obstacles, drawing inspiration from a poem called Keep a Going that encourages persistence through challenges. In her work, Bobbi navigates the shift to AI while embracing opportunities like free advertising on platforms such as TikTok, X, Facebook, and Instagram, and she advises young women entering the field to keep going.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Bobbi

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say creativity, loving arts. I love art, I love creating, I love building things. Doing my food trucks and being an entrepreneur and running my own business really showed me I was able to build my ecosystems, my online presence. I just fell in love with the building process of that whole ecosystem, and being visible and connecting with people in that way, and teaching people how to do it.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My friend recommended this little book called Cheery Thoughts. It had this poem, Keep a Going, in it, that she wanted me to read when I felt like giving up and things weren't gonna work out. It's a wonderful poem, and I would say that's probably the best advice that stuck with me. When things get challenging, just keep it going.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Keep going.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The greatest challenge is probably the shifting from AI and learning all of that. But luckily I love learning. There's gonna be a bunch of challenges but it's our job to navigate and figure out how to overcome those. The greatest opportunity is that being on these platforms and advertising is free, all of your TikTok, your X, your Facebook, your Instagram. That's so exciting.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I would say do the difficult things. If you don't want to do it, just get up and do it. Like I go to the gym and I don't wanna, some days I just want to sleep, but you have to get up. Overcome obstacles. And that's such a wonderful part of life because as human beings we're all created to problem solve, and getting to do that as part of my job is amazing.
