Alongside her professional achievements, she earned an Associate of Arts degree from Blinn College and continues her studies at Texas State University, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. For more than 24 years, Bobbie has been a passionate advocate for mental illness awareness, a mission inspired by her brother’s lifelong struggle that has been stated mental illness before his passing in April 2026. Her advocacy efforts have extended beyond her local community, as she has worked behind the scenes to promote awareness and encourage policy discussions with government and public institutions. A devoted member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, she draws strength from prayer, music, and spiritual readings, which serve as the foundation of her message of hope. She has an extraordinary, educated and talented daughter. Having navigated profound personal challenges including caring for her grandchild with autism, overcoming a life-altering automobile accident, and enduring the loss of loved ones Bobbie remains committed to helping others find strength through faith. Her mission is simple yet powerful: to remind people that there is hope and purpose beyond tragedy, and that by inspiring even one person to keep moving forward, she has made a meaningful difference in the world.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Bobbie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my own knowledge, my own pursuing, and just knowing I can do it if I just keep pushing forward and not giving up. I can see now that I have made a difference. I hear people say your strength, your courage, and that I'm an inspiration to others. I just never let anything deter me. I tried to keep going and going until I come to completion with whatever is put in front of me. Through my faith, prayer, and the foundation I have in the AME Church, I have been able to get through a lot of the things I've gone through. My mother was such an inspiration, and she was always using prayer, so I would say my Methodist background and my belief in prayer and faith and worship have really helped me to get through and achieve what I have.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is to never give up on your dreams. Seek them, research them, follow them, and never stop until you achieve your goal. If you can see it, you can reach it, and you can claim it, and you can earn it. This advice has guided me through all the challenges I've faced and has kept me pushing forward no matter what obstacles came my way.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Success begins by building a structural foundation for yourself. Motivate yourself and uplift yourself. If you have a vision, and can see it in your future, proclaim it, work for it and work to achieve it. Always, think positive and speak life to yourself and know with God all things are possible.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My biggest challenge is getting through the emotional roller coaster after the passing of my brother. He was my hero and my confidant. His struggles not by his own actions never made him bitter or deceitful but instead he showed courage, love to everyone, kindness and never let anyone else take his joy. His smile would light up a room like a candle would fulfill light in darkness. He was a great man and he will always be remembered for his kind words and being a giver to others.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values to me are faith, perseverance, and never giving up. I believe in what you stand for and pursuing your qualities. I am a faith believer, and I believe that the God we serve will supply your needs. Through prayer, hard work, and navigating through all of life's challenges, including death, mental illness, and autism, you can still be standing and life can still be good through all the obstacles. My foundation in the AME Church, my belief in prayer and worship, and my commitment to helping others find hope are at the core of everything I do. If I can inspire just one person and give someone else hope not to give up, then I have left my mark in this world.
