Bobbie Jo Kinsey, NCIDQ, CAPS, is the owner of Trusted Transitions of Colorado, where she specializes in senior move management, downsizing, organizing, and interior design. Based in the Denver metropolitan area, she leads a team dedicated to helping older adults and their families navigate one of life’s most emotional transitions—moving from a long-time home into a smaller or more supportive living environment. With a deep commitment to preserving comfort and familiarity, Bobbie Jo uses her design expertise to recreate a sense of home in each new space, ensuring her clients feel both सुरक्षित and supported during times of change.

Her path into senior move management was shaped by personal experience. After helping her own family members through complex moves and caregiving transitions—including supporting loved ones through assisted living and memory care—she recognized a critical need for compassionate, hands-on support in this space. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in interior design, along with her certifications in aging-in-place and professional design credentials, she built a business grounded in empathy, trust, and practical expertise. Her work spans everything from space planning and packing to coordinating moves and setting up fully functional, personalized living environments.

Throughout her career, Bobbie Jo has remained guided by values of honesty, integrity, and kindness. She understands that her work goes far beyond logistics—it’s about honoring memories, easing stress for families, and helping seniors maintain dignity and independence. Whether working with local clients or coordinating long-distance transitions, she brings both professionalism and heart to every project. Through Trusted Transitions, Bobbie Jo continues to make a meaningful impact, helping families navigate change with confidence and care.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to what I call stick-to-itiveness - just keeping my head down and continuing to work hard. First and foremost, I'm genuinely passionate about caring for seniors. This isn't work you can do halfway - you have to truly care about the people you're serving. That passion has been my foundation from day one. Beyond that, it's about dedication and consistency. I've stayed focused, kept working, and refused to give up, even when things weren't easy. For me, it really comes down to those two things: being passionate about caring for seniors and having the discipline to keep going, day after day.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is simple: have a plan. You can't just wing it and expect to be successful. You need to know where you're going and how you're going to get there. One of the most important things I learned through the Goldman Sachs program is to have an exit strategy. That goes hand in hand with having a plan - you need to think long-term, not just about starting strong, but about how you'll transition or step away when the time is right. Having a plan means being intentional, strategic, and prepared rather than just reacting to whatever comes your way.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

For young women entering this field, I would say you need to narrow down what you love to do. Senior care is broad, and there are so many different ways you can work in this industry, but you can't pursue everything at once. You need to figure out what you're passionate about and really focus on that. Determine what direction you want to go in senior care, because the opportunities are endless. I hire people who are 30, and I also have an employee who's 75, so there's no single right age or background to enter this work. What matters most is passion. What is it that you're passionate about? Once you identify that, focus on it and let that guide your path.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I'd say there are a lot of opportunities out there - it's really a matter of networking, going out and finding them, and also defining what you want your legacy to be and how you want people to know you. The biggest challenge for me over the past five years has been narrowing down that window and knowing what I'm best at and what I'm happiest doing. You can't be everything to everybody, and I think that's been the hardest part - figuring out where to focus. We spend so much time at work, and I truly believe that you need to love what you do. So the challenge isn't a lack of opportunity - it's choosing the right opportunities and staying focused on what brings you joy and what you're best at.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, integrity, and being kind are my three top values. These matter especially when you're working with seniors and their belongings that they've had for 40 or 50 years - those things mean so much to them. I read or listened to something about the difference between being nice and being kind, and it really resonated with me. I believe in telling people the truth. I'm not going to skirt around things or sugarcoat them. If you ask me a question - like does this make me look fat - and you're my friend, I'm going to tell you the truth. If you don't want the answer, don't ask me. That's what I mean about being kind versus being nice. I want people to tell me the truth, because I don't want to walk out of my house looking a certain way without knowing it. Honesty and integrity guide everything I do.
