Her Story

About Brandi

Brandi N. Carson, CSEP, is a Head of Global Experiences and Revenue Portfolio Executive at Catalyst Inc. with nearly 20 years of experience in the events industry, known for transforming event ecosystems into multimillion-dollar revenue engines that drive pipeline growth, customer engagement, and strategic business impact. She specializes in designing and leading global event strategies that align with organizational goals, strengthen go-to-market execution, and elevate brand presence across corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors. Her career began at Accenture in consulting, focused on project and change management, before transitioning into events through a transformative internship in the Social Office of The White House East Wing, where she supported presidential-level events and protocol. That experience reshaped her career direction and led her into government contracting, where she managed conferences and meetings before pursuing an entrepreneurial path.

Brandi later co-founded an event planning company with her husband specializing in social events, nonprofit galas, and mission-driven experiences, ultimately relocating from Washington, D.C. to Houston, Texas, where they built and scaled the business for over a decade. Following the COVID-19 pandemic and a pivotal personal season, she transitioned into nonprofit leadership, where she now oversees large-scale global event portfolios reaching 10,000 to 15,000 attendees annually in partnership with Fortune 500 organizations focused on gender equity and workplace inclusion. In her current role, she leads the strategy and execution of major conferences and signature programs, integrating event strategy, marketing, and audience engagement at scale.

One of her most significant accomplishments includes leading the transformation of a 20-plus-year legacy New York City event from a traditional conference-and-dinner format into a multi-day strategic experience, requiring executive alignment, board approval, budget justification, and cross-functional coordination. This work reflects her broader commitment to elevating the events industry as a strategic business discipline that goes far beyond logistics, encompassing marketing, storytelling, and revenue generation. Brandi is also passionate about mentoring emerging talent and helping build a stronger pipeline into the industry, while continuing to create impactful experiences that connect people, drive business outcomes, and deliver lasting organizational value.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Brandi

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of formative experiences, entrepreneurial drive, and a commitment to excellence, adaptability, and continuous growth. My career began with a transformative internship in the Social Office of The White House, where I gained exposure to high-level event execution and developed a strong foundation in precision and strategic planning. I later co-founded an event planning company with my husband, where I spent over a decade building expertise in operations, leadership, and large-scale event strategy across nonprofit and social sectors. Today, I serve in nonprofit leadership, overseeing major events and partnerships with Fortune 500 organizations focused on equity and inclusion. Ultimately, my success comes from strategic vision, resilience, and a belief that events are powerful platforms for connection and impact.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received has been to trust my abilities, recognize my own value, and not be afraid to take risks and grow beyond what I thought was possible. A significant source of that perspective has been my husband, who has consistently encouraged me throughout my personal and professional journey. Over nearly two decades together, he has supported me through career changes, entrepreneurship, motherhood, and leadership roles, always reinforcing the importance of confidence and forward momentum. His encouragement has helped me step into new opportunities, build resilience, and see potential in myself that I might not have recognized on my own.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think understanding that there's always going to be an evolution is so important. Early in my career, I thought I had to go into events and do one thing, and I thought that one thing was going to be it for the rest of my life. But I realized, probably 10 years in, that I have many different options, and it's okay for me to explore all of them. It's also okay for me to build my foundational skill set that is transferable across all of those options, so I don't lose what I love. In the moment, I still get to do what I love - I just get to apply it differently. So I think that's probably one of the biggest things: there's always options, and keep them open when you can.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

What's really important to me right now is helping people understand that events are more than just arranging the caterer. There's a whole event marketing, event strategy, and event component to events that people often miss because it's not as important to them. But part of my journey is really just helping people understand there is a business to events. I want to keep championing that particular point. I also want to help build a talent pipeline into the events industry from a talent perspective. There are a number of folks who don't really truly understand the full scope - they're kind of like everybody else in the sense that they only think it's this one thing, like catering. But I have a business mind, and I want to utilize it in an industry that I love, and I want to help others see that possibility too.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In both my personal and professional life, I value integrity, innovation, efficiency, trust, and excellence. Integrity is my foundation—I believe in doing what I say and trusting others to do the same. I’m always looking for smarter, more efficient ways to work and live, while encouraging creativity and innovation in others. I hold myself to high standards and expect excellence, not perfection, from myself and those around me. Ultimately, I strive to show up fully, act with accountability, and consistently deliver my best in everything I do.
