About Brandi

Brandi Redden is a yoga teacher based in Tyler, Texas. She completed her 500-hour yoga teacher training in July 2020 and has been teaching since that time. Her areas of specialization include trauma-informed yoga, pregnancy yoga, chair yoga, and mind-body-spirit yoga, allowing her to provide personalized instruction that accommodates injuries and supports individuals working through trauma. Prior to her yoga career, Redden served in the military, where she developed leadership skills and later found yoga helpful in managing her own PTSD. This experience inspired her to teach and give back to veterans and civilians alike. She holds some college credits and is working toward an associate degree. Redden attributes her professional success to adopting attributes like hard work and resilience from people she admired, including those in the military, and to remaining open and flexible with different attitudes. She advises staying true to oneself, learning about every style of yoga without limiting options, and recognizing that each individual's path is valid. The values most important to her are respect, honesty, kindness, compassion, and empathy.

Ten minutes with Brandi

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think just learning from people that I may have admired, either growing up or like in the military, and kind of adopting some of those attributes which is just like hard work or not backing down from hard situations. Being in the military I learned how to be a leader and I think that helps me to teach classes. Being open and flexible to different people's attitudes.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

To only stay true to yourself and not binge just to rise above or to get along faster quicker.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Learn as much as you can about every style of yoga, don't limit yourself, and your path is the right path because it's your path. Nobody like you cannot compare yourself to another way of learning or coming up in the field. It's all individual so this is the right one.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges is the entire movement towards the whole woke movement. I think a lot of people are getting more into that field and so it might be a little bit more not as eclectic. Nowadays it's kind of like you're having a lot more pop-up so the challenge may be there. The benefits though are getting a better holistic understanding of helping people as well as a deeper understanding of yourself and the awesome places to be you can go to India you can do it anywhere.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Respect, honesty and kindness, compassion, empathy.
