Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the strong mentors and educational opportunities I’ve had throughout my career. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside individuals who were willing to invest their time in teaching and guiding me, especially as I transitioned into healthcare and IT. Their willingness to share knowledge has been instrumental in my growth, and I credit much of my progress to learning from great people who genuinely support others.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received is, “not my circus, not my monkey.” It reminds me to stay focused on my core responsibilities and execute them well before extending myself too broadly. I’ve learned the importance of prioritizing what’s directly in front of me—particularly building and maintaining strong partnerships. By staying grounded in my role, I’m able to create trust and deliver meaningful results without spreading myself too thin.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice is to never be afraid to ask questions or try something new. Fear of failure can hold people back from opportunities where they could truly excel. I believe that if you give yourself the chance, you may be surprised by what you’re capable of achieving. I personally took a leap into a completely new industry, and within a few years, I’ve been honored with awards. That growth came from trusting myself, staying curious, and being willing to learn.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The greatest opportunity in my field is improving communication. Bridging the gap between technical IT teams and clinical or business stakeholders can be challenging, especially when trust hasn’t yet been established. I focus on translating technical concepts into clear, practical language while advocating for both sides. Strengthening communication builds trust, encourages collaboration, and ultimately leads to better alignment and outcomes.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me are faith, family, and hard work. These align closely with the Choctaw Nation’s principles of faith, family, and culture. I value being in an environment where I can integrate my personal beliefs with my professional life. These values keep me grounded and motivate me to contribute meaningfully both at work and at home.
