Her Interview
Ten minutes with Brandy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to God absolutely. He is doing amazing things in my life. Hard work is also key, along with keeping a positive mindset through the 75% no's to get to the yeses.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice is keeping a positive mindset. You have to go through 75% of your no's to get to your yeses. People will try to bring you down but you stick with it and notice others changing jobs often while you persist.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It definitely takes somebody with thick skin and self-assurance. And it's not hard to leave them all in the dust after that.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The constant need to have so many irons in the fire. If I stop, business stops. You gotta keep peddling. Also the economy, with high electric bills affecting clients like the coffee shop owner.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Self-value is most important because I was the queen of selling myself short. Breaking free from generational cycles of being poor white trash. Once you have self-assurance and self-respect, I'm a lady, and if they're not gonna come at me like that, bye, I'm in the wrong room. You have to protect yourself.
