Ten minutes with Brandy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and disciplined use of structured checklists to stay consistent and focused on priorities. My leadership approach has also been shaped by years of parenting, which has strengthened my patience, adaptability, communication, and ability to guide others with empathy and accountability.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the restaurant industry is to stay open-minded and be ready for a fast-paced, hands-on environment that can be physically demanding but very rewarding. In my experience, success comes from strong communication, teamwork, and building relationships in a setting that is less traditional and more interactive. I’ve also found it to be a supportive, family-friendly industry where hard work is valued and the culture can be both energetic and fulfilling.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field is maintaining balance between work and personal life. There are days when long shifts mean I miss time with my family, which can bring feelings of guilt as a mother and wife, and other days when I have to intentionally make time for “forced fun” to stay present with my loved ones. It’s an ongoing adjustment between meeting work demands and being fully present at home, and finding that balance is something that constantly evolves.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are serving others through leadership, elevating my teammates rather than seeking the spotlight, and building strong, meaningful connections with customers. I also place high importance on maintaining a healthy balance that allows me to prioritize my family while ensuring financial stability and security.
