Her Story
About Brandy
I originally planned to go to school for nursing, but that didn't pan out. Instead, I got my start in the corporate world as a part-time teller, which was my first ever corporate job, and I worked my way up from there. I've been in customer success for 5 years now, working in software for manufacturing. In my role as Customer Success Manager, I hold business reviews, do renewals, make sure clients are getting the most out of the software, ensure they have the value they need, and handle any issues that come up. I'm really the face of their experience. Getting promoted to Customer Success Manager where I had no experience was a highlight for me, and I've learned so much. I also got certified as a Customer Success Manager, which was a great achievement. With every job I've had, I've had wonderful leadership that really molded me into who I am today.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Brandy
01What do you attribute your success to?
Success feels so much more meaningful when you realize you didn't get there alone. For me, everything starts with my faith. Trusting in God’s plan has given me direction when things felt uncertain and has been the definitive guide for my career.
I also carry with me the wisdom of the leaders who took me under their wing, and the constant, pure motivation that comes from my children.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
If I had to boil down the best career advice I’ve ever received, it would be this: you really are the average of the people you spend your time with. Think about it—if your inner circle is quick to give up when things get messy, it’s only a matter of time before you start doing the same. That’s why I’m such a big believer in finding mentors and "work friends" who have a few scars from their own setbacks. Those are the people who can look you in the eye when you’re struggling and give you the perspective you need to keep moving.
Because at the end of the day, nothing beats pure persistence. We see it all the time:
Talent is great, but there are plenty of talented people who never make it.
Genius is amazing, but "unrewarded genius" is practically a cliché.
Education is a head start, but the world is full of educated people who stalled out.
In the long run, it’s persistence and determination that carry you across the finish line. Surround yourself with people who don't quit, challenge you, push you to become better.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Starting out might feel a little overwhelming, but remember that every expert you see was once exactly where you are today.
Your First Steps Matter
You just have to start somewhere, even if a job is small. Don't feel like you need to conquer the world on day one.
Show Up with Heart
Every job is an experience, so you have to put your right foot forward. Bring your best energy everyday. When you approach your work with pride and a positive attitude, people notice. Your work ethic is your signature—make it something you’re proud of.
Be Brave Enough to Grow
Take a chance. Don’t be afraid to raise your hand for a new project or ask to learn a piece of equipment that looks intimidating. Learn from your mistakes and you keep going and you keep bettering yourself to a new role. If you mess up a part or hit a snag, take a breath, fix it, and move on. Those moments aren't failures; they are the "fuel" that helps you grow into a leader.
See the Big Picture
Every path is an experience and it's an opportunity to learn. Whether you stay in one department or move through several, every person you meet has something to teach you. Be a sponge! The more you learn about how things are built, the more you realize how much power you have to create.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Right now, the biggest challenge—and honestly, the most exciting opportunity—is navigating the incredible 'growth of change' we’re seeing with AI. We’re at a point where technology is moving faster than ever, especially as we integrate new AI-driven tools to meet the latest CMMC compliance requirements. It’s definitely a fast-paced environment, and there are days where the learning curve feels steep, but it’s so incredibly rewarding. There’s a real sense of pride in knowing that the work we’re doing today is setting a new standard for security and innovation. It’s a whirlwind, but I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
At my core, I am driven by a commitment to stay humble, grounded, and positive in everything I do. My life is built on the foundation of keeping my faith strong and holding the people I love close to my heart. Professionally, I strive to be the best employee and teammate possible, bringing a steady hand and an uplifting spirit to my work. Personally, my greatest joy is being a truly loving partner, mom, daughter, and friend. By keeping my feet on the ground and my heart open, I hope to be a source of strength and warmth for my family, my coworkers, and everyone I meet along the way.
