Ten minutes with Brandy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the mentors, experiences, and life lessons that have shaped my path.
Spencer Hadley was an extraordinary mentor who gave me the opportunity to grow within a senior living community, empowering me to thrive and fiercely advocate for my residents.
Clay Brasuell was equally foundational to my professional development. At the same time, my journey in combat sports—spanning years as an MMA inspector and lead inspector—instilled in me deep resilience, leadership, and perseverance. Balancing these paths as a single mother forged my drive, cementing my belief that my most valuable education has come from life itself.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Everyday you wake up breathing and not crying is a good day, Be thankful your lucky enough to be blessed to have a career you love, the passion to help and advocate for those who didn't even know they needed it.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering the industry to thoroughly vet potential fighters and ensure they are not only a good fit professionally but also good people. Consider factors such as their weight, training schedule, lifestyle, work ethic, and overall commitment before deciding to work with them.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
In the amateur combat sports landscape, your primary challenge stems from a lack of structural mentorship, guidance, and fair advocacy for unrepresented fighters.
Having spent years on the regulatory side as an inspector, you identified a critical gap where young, hungry athletes are often left to navigate the complexities of the sport without proper support or strategic direction.,
The Advocacy Gap: Amateur fighters frequently lack experienced guidance to navigate career growth, contractual expectations, and proper athletic representation safely.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value compassion, empathy, and meaningful personal connections in both my work and personal life. My family’s experiences with Alzheimer’s and cancer, along with my work in memory care and dementia, have given me a deep understanding of the importance of supporting others through difficult times. Despite the challenges, I remain passionate about this work and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those affected.
