I had sworn up and down that I was not a salesperson until I joined a startup mortgage broker as a loan officer assistant and got my licensure to originate loans. After that startup failed, I moved to another working with small businesses on tax credits, and now I'm at NerdWallet doing small business loans. I found my niche as a good conversationalist who is decent with numbers. My satisfaction comes from helping others be successful, like mentoring new hires and seeing the light bulb go off when they learn something new.
