Her Story

About Breanna

Breanna "Bre" Rice is a Territory Sales Leader, Hospice Account Executive, and Market Expansion Specialist with more than seven years of experience in the healthcare industry. For the past two years, she has specialized in hospice business development, where she has built a reputation for driving strategic growth through trust-based relationships, community engagement, and patient-centered advocacy. As an Account Executive with LHC Group, Bre successfully expanded her rural, multi-county territory by 550%, increasing the patient census from 8 to 55 through collaborative partnerships with healthcare providers and the unwavering compassion and dedication of her interdisciplinary team. Her expertise includes territory management, referral network development, strategic account growth, and strengthening provider relationships to improve access to quality end-of-life care.

Bre's career reflects resilience, adaptability, and a deep commitment to serving others. After a head-on automobile collision three years ago resulted in the loss of her patient registration position, she embraced a new direction in hospice sales, inspired by a hospice educator who introduced her to the profound impact of hospice care. Drawing on more than seven years of healthcare experience, she transformed a challenging life event into an opportunity to make a meaningful difference for patients and families. Raised on a beef farm in rural Pennsylvania, Bre developed a strong work ethic and an appreciation for the importance of community, values that continue to shape her relationship-driven approach to leadership and business development.

Bre earned an Associate of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Pennsylvania State University–Penn State Mont Alto. Beyond her professional responsibilities, she is passionate about educating communities on the benefits of hospice care and reducing misconceptions surrounding end-of-life services. She is currently developing Your Hospice Liaison, a social media platform dedicated to increasing public awareness, providing compassionate education, and helping families better understand hospice care. Through her work, Bre remains committed to expanding access to quality care, fostering meaningful community partnerships, and ensuring patients and their loved ones receive the support and dignity they deserve.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Breanna

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success honestly comes from those relationships that I've built. It also comes from my faith, and the people that I am honestly blessed to call my coworkers, and my biggest supporters are my family. I didn't come into this role with a sales background, but I've learned that if you truly care about the people and the patients, and you put them first, that the relationships with your referral sources, they naturally follow.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice that I've ever been given actually came from when I was showing livestock myself. Someone told me, people may not remember what you said to them, but they're definitely gonna remember how you made them feel. This advice has stuck with me throughout every stage of life. It applies to every part of my career as well, whether I'm talking to physicians, supporting families or patients, or building relationships in our community. I choose to lead with kindness, honesty, and empathy.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't lose sight of the fact that you're advocating for people and humans. They're not just patients. Don't be intimidated if you don't have a traditional background. I came into hospice without sales experience, and I've learned that being authentic, having compassion, and always being willing to learn is going to take you way further than being the smartest person in the room.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge right now is community education. There are still so many misconceptions about hospice and myths that people believe. People still believe that hospice is only for the last few days of life. But it's actually the greatest opportunity as well, because the more that we can educate people before they get to that crisis mode. That's one of the biggest reasons that I've actually started building the educational platform on social media.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My values are honestly my faith, integrity, and my family. Those are the values that guide me in every part of my life. My faith reminds me to treat every person with dignity and kindness. My family keeps me grounded. In my career, integrity just always means doing the right thing, even when it's not easy. At the end of the day, I truly believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, compassion, and they deserve the opportunity to make informed decisions.
