Ten minutes with Bree

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Be open to stepping into new opportunities even if it doesn't always look like a promotion. It could be something that's just going to expand your horizons and ultimately lead to something very fulfilling. I didn't expect to go into dental. I stepped into an opportunity that came up and that turned into a career for me.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

In the dental field, it's not difficult to get into if you start from the bottom. If you're wanting to go into the corporate side, you do ideally want to have some understanding of what it's like in the day-to-day in the office. Getting some hands-on understanding is always helpful. For technology, understand technology and have a good grasp of that, especially AI. For dental technology, have an understanding of dental billing and procedures at a grassroots level.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Reacting appropriately to customer feedback and being able to pivot in terms of our product. We've had to do a lot of updates in our product as we bring our new customers. Being able to articulate that and help my team understand the why behind it, having been on the customer side. Assisting with the practicalities of what that would look like. Helping our customers to work through the change management process.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Empathy and collaboration. You have to understand where the customer's coming from, and I have been in their shoes. Empathy is also important in my personal life for good relationships. Collaboration as well - as a team we can usually come up with the solutions. In personal life, always collaborating to get the best results with husband, children, friends, church.
