About Brenda
Brenda Buffington is an accomplished nurse educator, health and wellness coach, and academic leader with over four decades of experience in higher education and clinical instruction. She retired approximately a year and a half ago from her position as Assistant Clinical Professor at The Ohio State University, where she taught and mentored nursing students in clinical and hybrid learning environments after earning her doctoral degree there. She currently serves as Lead Faculty at Tavoya Coaching Academy, where she teaches full time in an evidence-based 28-week virtual program preparing participants to become skilled health and wellness coaches. As a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach and member of the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching, her career reflects a deep commitment to education, health promotion, and empowering individuals to build meaningful careers in healthcare and wellness.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The quote 'A ship is safe in the harbor, but that's not what ships are built for' has encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone, pursue further degrees, take jobs in new places like the United States Air Force Academy, and bounce forward from challenges like divorce.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself. Learn how and when to adjust your sails when facing difficulties or storms in life.
