Ten minutes with Brenda
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute much of my success to resilience, adaptability, and a genuine investment in people. I’ve learned that success isn’t just about hitting a number or earning a title—it’s about how you get there and who you help grow along the way. I’ve always been willing to learn, take accountability, have difficult conversations, and evolve when something isn’t working.
Integrity has also been incredibly important to me. I believe you can be ambitious and results-driven without compromising your values. Some of my greatest accomplishments have come from building strong teams, developing others, creating a culture where people feel seen and celebrated, and turning challenges into opportunities for growth.
Personally, becoming a mother strengthened my sense of purpose. I want my daughter to see a woman who works hard, takes risks, learns from her mistakes, and isn’t afraid to reinvent herself. That has pushed me to continue growing even during difficult seasons of my life. Ultimately, I think my success has come from staying hungry while remaining grounded in who I am.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t confuse being liked with being respected. Be kind, be fair, and hold your standards.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The best advice I can give our young women of today is, build a career you can be proud of, not just a paycheck. Make your money, learn everything you can, develop people, protect your integrity, and never burn yourself out proving your value to people who already have the numbers in front of them.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Due to everyone now having a cell phone and carriers being so price competitive, the person who learns to consult instead of sell is going to be extremely valuable these next 5-10 years.
Success isn’t just about what you accomplish. It’s about who you become and who you help become better, along the way.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values to me personally and professionally are Integrity, Family, Growth, Empathy and Independence.
I’m competitive and I’m driven, but I’ve learned that leadership isn’t just about being the top performer. It’s about whether the people around you are becoming better too. I’ve also learned that empathy and accountability can exist together. I can care about somebody and still hold them to a standard. And through everything, I’ve tried to protect my integrity. I want to make money, I want to win, and I want to grow—but I want to be proud of how I did it.
