Brenda Fonju

Brenda Fonju is a Psychiatry Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over nine years of experience in the field since 2015. She earned her Master's of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland in 2017 and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of South Alabama in 2022, where her dissertation focused on screening tools for substance use disorders. Fonju has worked in correctional facilities and at Shepherd Pratt inpatient psychiatric hospitals, where she participates in treatment teams, manages medications, and handles discharge planning. She is now developing Likeminds Behavioral LLC, a boutique-style outpatient psychiatric mental health clinic in Laurel, Maryland, in partnership with another dual board-certified nurse practitioner. The practice website, likemindsbehavioral.org, is scheduled to launch in early September. Fonju is active in the Psych Congress community and volunteers with local Catholic churches, including organizing activities for children and preparing community presentations on depression and anxiety.
