What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my hard work. A lot of hard work. I've been in this field for 24 years, and it takes dedication and effort to build a practice that serves clients well while also making quality architectural services affordable and accessible to people who might not otherwise be able to afford an architect.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received was to be honest and to go get it. Don't be timid. Fight for your dreams. If you don't go get it, you don't know how far you can go. You have to try your best and not hold back.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women entering my industry to just go get it. If you believe in yourself and the capacity that you have, you can achieve everything you want. Just make sure that you believe in yourself and you work for it. Don't be timid or hold back from pursuing what you want to accomplish.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field right now are the economy and government regulations. Our business in construction is very sensitive to changes in the economy, and the government is very tight with regulations. Whatever is happening in construction, if something changes with the economy, it affects very badly what we do. Both the economy and government have a significant impact on our industry.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity and honesty are the most important values to me in both my work and personal life. These principles guide everything I do, from how I interact with clients to how I run my business. Being honest and maintaining integrity is very important in my field.
