Her Story

About Bre'Shae

Bre'Shae Pittman serves as Foundation Manager of North America at Sage in the technology industry, a role she has held for five and a half years. In this position she focuses on relationship building, planning volunteer events, and connecting colleagues and nonprofit partners to support community missions while living out company values of being human and building trust. Her career journey started after college when she spent three years in South Korea teaching English as a foreign language and volunteering extensively with V-Day.org, organizing The Vagina Monologues and related fundraising events that drew hundreds of participants. That experience introduced her to the power of community engagement and led her, upon returning to the United States, to relocate to Georgia and pursue work in the nonprofit sector. There she gained experience with corporate volunteers, which opened the door to corporate social responsibility. She studied psychology and ethnic studies as an undergraduate, drawing on her own background growing up in low-income neighborhoods as the first in her family to attend college to connect deeply with the communities she serves. Pittman is also active in professional organizations including ACCP, the CDC of Atlanta, and the Young Women Leaders Forum.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Bre'Shae

01What do you attribute your success to?

My background growing up in low-income neighborhoods with limited resources, being the first in my family to go to college, and exposure to corporate volunteers and nonprofit opportunities that helped me dream bigger and see different worlds.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

During a job interview, the recruiter told me to look at my resume and all my accomplishments and not feel intimidated by anyone, to be confident and proud of my journey without comparing it to others.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Build confidence and see yourself as leaders now, even if representation is low. Build a community of women who can inspire, encourage, and support each other. Don't doubt whether you belong, use your voice to help other women.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Things are rapidly evolving especially with AI in tech, and nonprofits losing federal funding leading to program cuts. The opportunity is using skills-based volunteering and employee talent to help nonprofits build capacity instead of just funding.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Spirituality and sharing our gifts with the community. Being kind, giving grace to yourself and others, empathy, and having fun. Making a difference for even one person through simple acts.
