Her Interview
Ten minutes with Briana
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to working mothers. In the workforce, it can be cumbersome to balance a strong work ethic and balance being needed and wanted by your “littles.” My greatest mentors have been women in senior management and leadership who are mothers and they are excellent at organizational leadership.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received was to be the change you want to see in the world. I find that advice to be paramount. It is important to identify wants and needs early from your coworkers, your customers, your leadership, etc. Being able to do so will allow you to be a free thinker, an innovator, and a pioneer. Change isn’t always a scary thing, making changes is critical to your development and will show your leadership that you can be adaptable.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Identify a goal for where you see yourself in 5 years. Coming into insurance, realize there are many different roles beyond selling or adjusting claims. Do not get discouraged by changes in the industry; stay the course, latch onto a mentor for confidence and inspiration during challenging times.
