About Briana
Briana Salmon serves as Global Product Lead at Google, a role she has held for over two and a half years. In this position, she builds global commercialization efforts around Google's next generation of ad formats across six continents, including commercializing creator partnership boosts and Demand Gen Campaigns. These efforts connect brands with creators and enable businesses to leverage the impact of creators on digital marketing. She also develops new minimalistic ad formats for luxury advertisers such as LVMH, Burberry, Nike, and Sephora to ensure authentic brand representation. Salmon has about seven years of experience in the technology industry, beginning her time at Google as a BOLD intern scholar educating small businesses, often mom-and-pop shops, on expanding beyond word-of-mouth marketing through digital ads. She led community events for the Black Google Network Employee Resource Group and later pivoted to the medium-sized business department, where she worked with fashion and beauty brands on full-funnel digital media strategies involving YouTube, search, and shopping. During that period, she collaborated on launching YouTube Beauty Fest, bringing together over 50 brands and generating more than 2 million views while proving creator-led video as a direct retail engine. This experience inspired her transition to product leadership. Her work focuses on YouTube ads and Demand Gen Campaigns, Google's first AI visual ad suite across YouTube, the Google Display Network, Maps, and Gmail.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It's important to remember our careers are not linear. A lot of leaders did not have a linear story, and that's okay. I started in sales, moved to brand activations and partnerships, now building global products. All those experiences make you a unique leader, so lean into being a generalist before a specialist. Your career is not going to be your pride and joy, so find joy in the things you're doing even if in work. Look at the positive side of the work beyond day-to-day and how it's impacting a larger picture.
