01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Every day is an interview. Every interaction that you have with someone, that someone could be a significant decision maker or influencer in an experience you have moving forward, or even in a position that you are aspiring to obtain. So treat every day, every interaction as an opportunity to show up as your very best. That was tried and true advice from a former leader, Ted Smith. Your future success is molded and predicted by how you respond to setback. Hope is not a strategy, it's a town in Arkansas. You need to plan and have a solid plan that's larger than that small town in Arkansas.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Always speak with confidence and clear intent, even when you may not feel confident or clear. Don't be intimidated by anyone in the room, because you have earned your place in that room. Don't be afraid to make your voice heard. Don't be afraid to address someone who tries to restate you and gets it wrong. I would rather be difficult and effective than passive and run over. Have a sense of humor. Relationship building is even stronger than the network it establishes. It also establishes you allies and sponsors.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The industrial revolution that is AI and automation is very exciting. What often goes overlooked is the amount of work that goes into building the right solution for your need. There is a lot of background work, ensuring that you have the right safeguards in place, rigorous testing and governance process. Ensuring that all parties involved come in with a clear understanding of the level of work is definitely a headwind for some efforts. But once we get aligned, we're able to overcome that fairly quickly. If a client needs guidance, we have experts on staff to help guide the customer through what they need to prepare for an automation or AI-enabled journey.
