I've been working in my field for about 7 years now, starting in February 2019 right after I concluded my master's program at NYU. My career path in administration kind of just fell into place - I needed to work and I had administrative background, so I was able to use that to my advantage and keep landing positions in that field. I worked at a nonprofit for the bulk of my career, from 2021 to 2024, and I'm currently an office manager at Rocky Mountain Institute, a nonprofit that works in clean energy and sustainability. I've been in this particular position for almost a year and a half now. My operations include basically just taking care of the office, taking care of the people that are there, making sure they have what they need to do their jobs. That includes everything from daily stockings of the office, receiving packages and sorting mail, scheduling meetings, booking conference rooms - all the administrative daily tasks, kind of like an EA, except I get to do events and things like that as well. What I'm most proud of right now is that we're in the middle of conducting an office move, and I really appreciate that the recognition I've received here at this organization has been unlike anything anywhere else. Being able to assist with that and being considered kind of like the program manager of that has been exciting. Beyond my administrative career, what's actually of more interest to me is a blog that I started in 2020. I have a feeling that we're in a vulnerability crisis these days, and people just aren't in tune enough with how they're feeling and how that impacts their day-to-day, so that's what I focus on - honestly, just feelings, whatever I'm feeling that week.
