About Brianna

I've been working in customer service for almost 10 years now, and it's literally what I love to do most. I love helping customers and helping other people. My journey started at Ronald McDonald House Charity, where I worked as an intern for 6 years. There, I learned so much from my manager, and I got to do make-and-takes for children at the hospital, where they would have snacks in a room and talk to other sick children. I also took care of the parents while their children were sick at the Ronald McDonald House, and it meant a lot to me. I kind of knew then what I wanted to do. I got my degree in business in 2016, but I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it because I really wanted to take care of other people. My uncle suggested I go into customer service, and that's what I did. After moving back to Atlanta, I started working with I-Corps, which contracts me out with different companies hiring for customer service representative positions. My first job through them was with the North Carolina Enrollment Center, where I enrolled teachers, firefighters, police officers, and other government employees into their insurance policies. I loved helping especially the older people who didn't know how to work the app or do it online, explaining the benefits to them one by one so they knew what they were getting. That job was only temporary during the insurance enrollment season, but I did very well at it. Now I work with National Grid for electricity and gas, helping customers with their gas and light bills. I help them get the most out of what the company offers, setting up payment agreements, telling them the best way to make their payments, and if they're sick or can't make a payment, I enroll them in the Medical Protection Program. I give them the help they need and connect them with the places they need so they can keep their lights on or keep their gas on without going broke or being in the dark because they can't afford it. It breaks my heart sometimes when I get a customer calling in saying their lights are out and they have kids, and all I can do is give them the best advice I can or try to work around the system to help them get their lights turned back on. Because I'm an empath, I know that helping people is something I love doing, and I would love to be at a job where I could help people with anything and everything they need help with, without there being a rule behind it or a policy that I have to abide by. In the next 5 years, I would love to be graduating from law school, because that is one of my goals, and I would love to be somewhere else helping people on a larger scale.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My uncle told me I should go into customer service when I wasn't sure what to do with my business degree. I had just graduated and was thinking I didn't know what I was going to do with this degree because I kind of wanted to take care of other people. My uncle said, well, you should go into customer service then, and so that's what I did. Being at the Ronald McDonald House after that advice was one of the best decisions I ever made.
