About Brianna
Brianna Willie serves as an ER nurse and emergency room nurse with nearly 12 years of experience in the healthcare field. After beginning her career right after high school by attending nursing school, she has worked in hospitals, spent a brief time in a rehab center, and traveled for seven years before settling in Houston, Texas. She also handles administrative duties in home health and is actively seeking to move into hospital management positions. Currently starting a DBA program in Healthcare Administration, Brianna aims to advance her career toward better compensation and improved work-life balance as a single parent. She advises young women entering nursing to remain strong, avoid being bullied into unwanted roles, and fight for their desired positions, drawing from her own experience of being pushed away from labor and delivery nursing. Outside of her professional pursuits, she volunteers with her local church and credits her self-driven nature and role as a mother of two for fueling her ongoing success.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Brianna
01What do you attribute your success to?
Being a mom and self-driven. I never really had a wild side. I just went from high school to nursing school and began working. Being a mom is pushing me even further.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
In healthcare, especially nursing, be strong. Everyone is still trying to figure it out. Do not get bullied into positions you do not want. Fight for what you want. I wanted to be a labor and delivery nurse but got pushed out and took a lot of bad advice and bullying.
