What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success, especially recently, to my family, my husband in particular. He has my back all the time, he's so encouraging, and I honestly had no idea what a great relationship was until I met him and how helpful and encouraging he is, and just wants the best for you, and happy to help in any way. Being in a relationship like that has been transformative. I didn't fully understand what a truly healthy, loving partnership looked like until I met him. He shows up in every way and is always willing to help, and that's made a huge difference in my life and my confidence.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
They're capable of doing way more than what they can even dream of. Whatever you want to do, you can do it 100-fold. So many people, especially with Instagram and social media, bring other people down or create expectations that make you think, 'Oh god, I'm never gonna look like that. I'm never gonna be able to do that.' But that's not the case at all. You have the power to do anything, and then some. Don't let comparison hold you back from realizing just how capable you truly are.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
This is both a challenge and an opportunity for me. As a BCBA, everyone thinks that they are specifically for children with autism or adults with autism, but that's not the case at all. Behavior analysis applies everywhere. Companies like Google, Berkshire Hathaway, and the Houston Astros have hired teams of BCBAs and have benefited so much from it. My biggest challenge is going to be selling myself or a BCBA and why Sephora or Ulta or a luxury makeup brand would need one, because it's untapped. No one's done it before. I don't know exactly how I'm going to do it, but I'm determined to make it happen. I want to show how behavior analysis can transform the luxury beauty industry in ways people haven't imagined yet.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Trust is a huge one for me. I feel like you have to definitely go in with trust. You have to trust yourself, that's a big one, and trust the people around you. Honesty is equally important. Even if things aren't going great, just be honest and be like, it's just a temporary bump, we'll get over it. Those are my big ones: honesty and trust.
