Bridget McCrory
Bridget McCrory is a strategic communications leader with approximately 20 years of experience spanning internal communications, external communications, public relations, and employee engagement. She currently serves as Head of Workplace Solutions, Strategic Communications at Vanguard, where she leads a small but high-impact team supporting the firm’s 401(k) and workplace retirement business. In this role, she oversees integrated communications efforts including client and crisis communications, regulatory messaging, and the management of the division’s LinkedIn presence, ensuring clear, consistent storytelling across diverse audiences.
Her career began in 2007, following early internship experiences that sparked her interest in communications. She started in public relations at a small agency before moving into Comcast, where she supported internet products and later transitioned into corporate internal communications. At Comcast, she managed large-scale initiatives such as the annual employee engagement survey and a major intranet redesign, helping shape how employees connected with information across the organization. She later spent time at Urban Outfitters in a hybrid communications role before returning to Comcast to build and lead the company’s first sustainability communications function, focused on ESG storytelling, employee education, and public sustainability disclosures. During this time, she also played a key communications role supporting Comcast’s acquisition of NBCUniversal, a complex and defining period in her career.
Across every role, Bridget’s work has centered on integrated, strategic communications that bridge internal and external audiences. Her experience includes corporate transformation, sustainability engagement, change management, and enterprise-wide communications strategy within highly complex organizations. She is known for her ability to translate business priorities into clear, compelling narratives that engage employees, clients, and stakeholders alike, bringing a cohesive voice to organizations navigating growth, change, and evolving public expectations.

What do you attribute your success to?
I really do feel strongly about internships. When I was in college, I did 3 different internships and intentionally tried to make sure I was getting different experience - one was for a public affairs talk show, one was the local radio station, and then the local college newspaper. It really helps you rule out what you like and don't like, and then really hone in on those skills and the work and try to then shape what is the role that actually has more of the things you like. I feel really, really strongly about that, and would give that advice around getting as much experience as you can, whether it's paid or unpaid, because I think nothing is better than having the actual experience. I've also been lucky to have several mentors in my career, and I think that is critical. Finding folks that you click with, who you're learning from, who you can also give to in the process and not have that be a one-way relationship really shaped my career time and time again in terms of opportunities and being able to identify roles before they were known to be a role people could go for. If you work hard, but also identify people to help you along the way, the hard work will pay off.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I definitely encourage the internships and getting as much experience to help you hone the career trajectory and just specificity of what you want to be, because there are so many different areas, and it's changing day by day with AI. I really stress the importance of experience. I think you definitely have to invest the time in writing, because even with the AI tools that are coming and here now, being a strong writer is critical to any communications role, and I think you also have to enjoy it. If you work hard, but also identify people to help you along the way, the hard work will pay off. I think finding mentors is critical - finding folks that you click with, who you're learning from, who you can also give to in the process and not have that be a one-way relationship. I can't say enough about that. I also think it's just thinking about how you can open doors for others - what meeting can you bring someone to, or who can you connect someone to?
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I would say it's probably the tension of some of the emerging AI and how it's going to be both helpful and challenging for communications. I think there is the tension around writing, and what does that mean for roles in the future, and how will it change the landscape of communications? But I think if you really embrace the technology and test and experiment, it is definitely helping and is a time saver. I view it as how it can be helpful to any career, but it's important to not be afraid to really embrace it rather than resist it.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being candid and honest is really important to me. I think humor and levity matter a lot, and being straightforward and direct, because I always think the clearest kind is right. I also think it's important to help give people opportunity where you can - what meeting can you bring someone to, or who can you connect someone to? I'm always thinking about how I can open doors for others. In my personal life, travel is really important to me, I love dogs and all animals, and spending time with friends and family is really important to me too. I also enjoy trying different restaurants and different places to eat.
