Her Interview
Ten minutes with Bridget
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the support of my family, especially my husband, who believes in me and encourages me in my professional journey. I also credit the relationships I have developed throughout my personal and professional life. Through my involvement with chambers of commerce, boards, and other organizations, I have built meaningful connections with people who know me, trust me, and understand the value I bring. Investing time in these relationships has been an important part of my professional growth.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is to understand your why. This applies not only to the travel industry but to any career. Take the time to understand why you enjoy what you do and what motivates you to keep growing. In travel, I also encourage aspiring advisors to identify the destinations and experiences they are genuinely passionate about. The world is a vast place, and discovering which destinations capture your interest will help you promote your expertise with greater confidence and authenticity.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One significant challenge is the growing influence of artificial intelligence, including tools such as ChatGPT, as well as the expectations shaped by social media. Online content can create unrealistic expectations about destinations and travel experiences, making it important to provide clients with accurate information and realistic guidance.
Another major challenge is the uncertainty surrounding political, social, and economic conditions, which can affect where people want to travel, how they can reach their destinations, and how much their trips cost. Rising fuel prices can also increase airfare and overall travel expenses. These changing conditions make it important for travel advisors to stay informed, adapt their recommendations, and help clients navigate their options with confidence.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are community involvement, service, and giving back. I believe in making a meaningful difference by building strong relationships and contributing to causes that positively impact others. One of my proudest achievements has been serving as chair of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in my community, where I’ve helped organize fundraising and engagement activities, including a progressive dinner event that raised more than $40,000. Receiving the 2024 Humble Volunteer Award from United Way and the Gold Elite Travel Advisor Award has also been meaningful recognition of my commitment to serving others and building relationships through my work.
