Her Story
About Brigitte
I began my career in higher education 26 years ago in the accounting department, and from there I continued to grow and flourish from department to department because it was a good fit for what I was looking for in my career. It's just pretty much worked for me through the years. Two years ago, I transitioned into HR because I was curious and had so much experience in other areas. I felt like I could get a little bit more experience and knowledge in something else that was different from my norm, and since then, I've just really enjoyed the information I've learned. Currently, I serve as the Administrative Assistant to the VP of People and Culture, which is Human Resources. One of the most pivotal moments in my career was when I worked with the law school, because I was a part of my law school babies' career through law school, and they are now attorneys. I was with them from orientation to graduation, and that was a pivotal point in my life.

Ten minutes with Brigitte
01What do you attribute your success to?
What's really been pushing me forward is my daughter, because she sees me and everything that I go through, and she just supports me. She's been the driving force behind my success, watching me navigate challenges and supporting me through it all. Having her see my journey and knowing that I'm setting an example for her has been incredibly motivating.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would just tell them if this is something that they really feel they need, if they're not even sure, to just try it out, and if it fits for them, move forward and try to strive for as much skills and knowledge that they can to reach their goals. Even if you run up against a wall, don't give up. Just maneuver over the wall and overcome that obstacle and keep going.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My mission is to strive for the best and reach for the most, both for myself and for others. I believe in striving for the best that you can do within yourself, and striving for the most that you're capable of doing. I stay spiritual and keep a prayer posted in my office every day for motivation for myself or anyone else who comes in my office. I prioritize organization and staying focused on what matters most.
